SOUTH AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN - Traveling to the Ship and More - December 8, 2022 - December 10, 2022

We're heading out to our South America and the Caribbean cruise on the Regent Mariner.

For the first time in all our travels, we got to fly Business Class with sleeper seats.  We flew Boston to Montreal (yes, got to go to the lounge between flights) then Montreal to San Paolo, Brazil (another lounge visit) and San Paolo to Buenos Aires, Argentina.


Regent had us stay at the Alvear Palace Hotel in Buenos Aires.  Lovely property.  Things were hopping in Buenos Aires since the World Cup was being played and this evening, Argentina won their game.  All kinds of partying in the street.  Great feeling.  We went around the corner to a small restaurant and had a lovely dinner.

Next morning, beautiful buffet breakfast in the hotel with lovely tea service.  When speaking with the server, I found out they also have their own tea blend (which, of course I got to sample).  DELICIOUS.  When leaving breakfast, I mentioned how special the tea service and actual tea was, the gentleman I was speaking with asked me to wait and moment and came back with a jar of the special loose tea for me to take with me.
  


Then we proceed to our bus transfer to the ship and check-in.  Lovely ship.  Nice Concierge Veranda Suite.  Within the first few hours on the ship, at lease 20 of the crew come up to me to say they remember us from our only other Regent cruise (November 2021) on a different ship.  

Dinner in the main dining room - Compass Rose - deck 5.  Need to pass through a lovely lounge/bar area, so ordered my Vodka Gimlet to drink prior to going to our table.  Andrew is our bar server (and he serves me every evening for the length of the cruise).

A familiar face in Compass Rose - Sugi - who we met last year. 

Only had him one evening, then he was transferred to other responsibilities and left us in the good hands of Kerti and Jobert for the rest of the cruise. 

Away we go!
